I swear, I’m going to blog about all the big changes that are going on in my life - and soon. Because there have been a ton. Like, surprise! I quit my nursing home job early! I’m now a full time photographer. (That feels AWESOME to say, haha.) My husband got a new job, so we’re moving soon! We’re also trying to sell our current house! So many exclamation marks! Ahh!
But now is not the time to talk about all that, because I’ve got some absolutely gorgeous photos to share with you from Kayla & Adam’s wedding! Sorry, the exclamation marks never really go away with me. Besides, weddings deserve the excitement. And this wedding is no exception.
Everyone met at Adam’s parent’s house to start getting ready. The girls downstairs, and the guys on the main level. It was such a beautiful home and I am now regretting not taking more photos of the place. But I did get some great photos of everyone getting ready! Once the girls were done with hair and makeup, everyone headed over to the venue, Amish Acres in Nappanee, IN, where the girls got their dresses on.
And now, prepare yourself, for your heart is about to be stolen. Meet Quinn and Wade. The bride and groom’s nephews. I know, I KNOW. These kids are even more precious in person. Both came all the way from China and I cannot tell you how loved these boys are. They totally stole the show! I may or may not have just as many pictures of them as I do of the bride..
I’m always super happy when couples tell me they want to do a first look. It’s seriously the best. I love the raw emotion of the bride and groom getting to see each other for the very first time, and sometimes, amidst all the adrenaline and the anxiousness and excitement happening right before the bride walks down, that emotion can get a little lost. But when it’s just the two of you, taking just a few moments to absorb what’s happening and how amazing each of you look, it’s a really beautiful moment.
Any wedding at Amish Acres is definitely one for the Pinterest lovers out there, myself included. Loads of rustic, shabby chic romanticism everywhere you look! Lights were strung throughout the venue making this one of pretties places I've ever been to. Have a look for yourself.
Kayla and Adam almost have that classically sweet high school sweetheart love story. Almost! While they did go to high school together, and even knew each other, that was about it. After they graduated, they went their separate ways, as most casual friends do. It took nearly 10 years for the stars to align and everything fell into place. They were fairly quick to get engaged, and a year later it was wedding day! They actually moved up the date of the wedding as two close family members are expecting babies any day now. Speaking as someone who does weddings for a living, I can tell you that it's not very often the bride is willing to move around their wedding date for the sake of someone else. Family is very important to these people. You could just feel it. I'm pretty lucky to have had the opportunity to spend my entire day with this kind and loving bunch of people.
As the night came to a close, I stole the bride and groom for a few more intimate portraits. We found some beautifully lit trees outside and I let Kayla and Adam take a little break from the party and just enjoy each other's company as Mr. and Mrs. McIntire.
