Originally, I was going to meet Jaime and Tom in Lansing for their engagement session. But plans changed and I'm so happy they did! These photos turned out so, so lovely. The large building in the background of the first set of photos is actually a water treatment facility. Who knew those could be so pretty!? Across the street is the Japanese Cultural Center, Tea House, and Gardens of Saginaw. They had actually just closed for the day and we were so bummed we couldn't get inside the gardens, but Jaime and Tom apparently have friends in high places. After a quick phone call and a few minutes passed by, someone came back to let us in! High five to that dude.
After we left the gardens, we almost parted ways and headed to our respective homes. But at the last minute, Jaime and Tom decided to head to a local bar for some candids. I was a bit apprehensive, to be completely honest. Bars can sometimes be very dark, and even though I had my flash with me and was confident in my ability to capture some great shots inside, I was still a little nervous. But once we arrived, all negative thoughts were quickly blown away by the beautiful craftsmanship and huge open windows letting in unbelievable amounts of natural light! So beautiful!!
The bar they chose for us was Bancroft Wine & Martini Bar. Great lighting, great drinks and food, and great service! They were really nice and very willing to participate in a few photos. This 1920's style lounge is a great place to kick back and stroke your beard.
Jaime and Tom have such an authentic and adorable connection. The emotion and chemistry between them was easy to photography and a ton of fun for me. I can't wait for their wedding! They're one of my many September weddings and I'm seriously so excited to work them again.
Be sure to congratulate them and come back in September to see their gorgeous wedding!!
